Suggestions for Participation (aka Rules)

Based upon comments I've read on several other blogs that are similar to this one, I have developed a list of suggestions. I’d call them rules, but that sounds so pushy. I’d also say this is mandatory reading, but that’s really pushy. So, here are some strong suggestions for making this a positive experience for all of us.

1. This is my personal blog, not a public forum. I very much invite comments and participation, however, I retain the right to edit and delete as I feel appropriate.

2. Questions and comments posted or e-mailed by you signify a tacit agreement that I may use those comments and e-mails as I see fit. My goal is to create a learning opportunity for the greatest number of readers. That may mean that I use you as an example of what NOT to do.

3. Absolutely no swearing, lewd comments, flaming or otherwise rude, derogatory comments about myself, in specific, or the LDS publishing community, in general.

4. Please don’t bother to point out my typos, run-on sentences and other grammatical mistakes. I am very busy and this blog is a labor of love. (Translation: Unless you're going to send me LOTS of money so I can do this blog full-time, this will be a quick and dirty effort.) If you understand what I'm trying to say, my job is done.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS:
1. E-mail your questions to me. Do not ask questions in the comments trail. I may not see them.

2. You may choose to create an alter-ego for your comments and questions. If you use your real name (or anything that could be a real name), I will substitute a (hopefully) humourous moniker. I will also delete other identifying information.

3. If you e-mail a question to me, this is tacit agreement that I may post as much or as little of your question as I choose.

4. I will answer the questions that I feel are most widely applicable first.

5. If I answer your question, I will send notification by reply e-mail. Make sure your e-mail is set to receive my replies. I will not follow up on bounce backs.

6. I will also address questions and issues that I glean from lurking in writers forums and/or that I encounter in my day job.

DISCLAIMER:
My opinions are based upon my experience, my world view and how I think things ought to be. (My opinions, although completely my own, are frequently shared by my colleagues.) You are free to disagree—vociferously, if desired—keeping in mind Rule #3.
