Okay, I read all of these books. And it was a tough category because some of them are parts of series--which means that there is more reader investment. I don't want to say who I voted for, but maybe a hint would be that Anne Perry is one of my idols.

Sheen on the Silk. Great characters, engaging plot, weaves in historical detail effectively.

Silence of God has my vote, though this is a strong category with all entries being exceptional.

I enjoyed reading the Sheen on Silk, but that is the only book that I have read from the list. I definitely learned about eunuchs reading that book. I always learn about interesting aspects of human history in her novels. Of course, Anne Perry is one if my idols too. I'm sure the other books were good too. They look interesting. Someday, I will read them.

Wow- I am amazed at how many people loved the Sheen on Silk! That was the only Whitney book I just could not finish. I got about 200 pages in and called it quits. I must have missed something.

I'm not a fan of Historical Fiction, but I was pleasantly surprised by these- especially Free Men and Dreamers. I haven't read any other books in the series and really wasn't excited about reading 400+ pages on the War of 1812, but it came alive for me.

I have read all three Sandra Grey books, including Trespass. I enjoyed all three. Haven't had a chance to read the other books. Trespass is well written and deserved its place here. It has my vote.

I haven't read all the books in this category yet, but I had trouble with Sheen on the Silk too. Parts of it was wonderful but there were other parts that seemed to drag for me—like an overlong history lesson.

But I have to admit, historical fiction is not my favorite genre.

I still haven't read Perry's or Sears books so I will have to come back to vote, but this is such a strong category! It's hard with Tresspass being part of a series I loved so much, and the other books are fantastic!

Another tough category!
I enjoyed Trespass, Silence of God and Alma the Younger. I would all three if I could. Trespass stayed with me after I read it. Shot. So did Silence of God. oh well.
I tried to read the Sheen of Silk and couldn't do it either. I didn't get past 200 pages either.
